A distinctive pine. Slow growing to 80'. Also called "Umbrella Pine" because of its spreading, flat topped crown. Known for its delicious "Pignolia" (pine nuts). Native to the warmer Mediterranean regions this pine can be grown in zone 8 and tolerates heat and drought. With its blue/green needles it makes a handsome container plant. Prior to planting: soak the seeds in cold water for 24 hours - 40 degrees. Plant at 1 1/2" depth in loamy soil with some coarse sand added. Bright light. 9 seeds per packet.
