DESERT ROSE Adenium obesum
The Desert rose is a slow growing succulent that can reach 5′ at maturity. It develops a swollen trunk (called a caudiciform) and produces beautiful carmine – red flowers in late spring.( which do not resemble roses ). ?Our plants are 3 years old, 8″ to 9″ tall and we ship them bare rooted ( no soil ). They are sun loving and require constant warmth and well draining soil mixture. ?During the summer months the soil can be kept lightly moist but when the gray skies of winter approach you must stop watering completely – usually November to late January. ?NOT FOR EXPORT.
MADAGASCAR PALM Pachypodium geayii
This attractive plant with needles on the trunk has the appearance of a cactus but with palm leaves on top. ?It is a Pachypodium – a fast growing plant native to Madagascar. ?It may grow to more than 15′ and develop branches. ?Its metallic gray trunk is covered with very sharp needles and we suggest that you handle carefully with sturdy gloves. The top of the plant develops numerous long, thin, grey-green leaves that have a pink mid rib. ?The plant should be keep warm at all times and should be planted in well draining soil mixture ( Do not use potting soil ). ?Provide bright light and keep lightly moist during the summer. ?In the winter months there is less light and the plant should be allowed to dry completely in November – December. ?It will drop its leaves at that time. ?New leaves will develop in spring and by mid-summer white blossoms should appear. ?Our plants are 9″ -10″ tall and we ship them bare-rooted. ?All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested. ?NOT FOR EXPORT – We ship this plant only within the USA.
PONY TAIL PALM Beaucarnia recurvata PLANT
Usually seen as a small plant with a swollen ?base and narrow trunk ?topped by a rosette of thin strap-like leaves. In time this Mexican native can grow to 35′ and develop a base of nearly 6′ width. These small plants that eventually grow to become large trees are sometimes re-named as “Elephant foot Tree”. ?Easily grown in average house light or outdoors in warm zones. Plant in well draining soil mixture, keep soil moist and in bright light. Ideal temperature is 80 F. Our plants are 6″ to 8″ ?tall, ?nearly 2 years old and have a base width of ?approximately 1 1/2″.
