The 1″ inch seeds of the Jubaea palm are actually miniature coconuts. After removing the hard outer shell you could slice the seed in half which would reveal the open cavity of the coconut – complete with its white texture, true taste and the fragrance of a traditional coconut. The Jubaea is a large sub-tropical feather palm that can reach 90′ and develops a thick swollen trunk that grows up to 6′ wide and can live up to a century. The trunk produces a sap that is known as “wine syrup”.

Our packet size contains three large seeds.? The weight of 100 seeds is 1- 1/2 lb. Jubaea is hardy to 15F and can be grown throughout the cooler regions of California. The seeds should be planted in a well draining soil mixture at a depth of 1 1/2 ” and kept lightly moist and at a temperature of 72F with very bright light (OK for Southern California). If the seed is planted with its shell it can take up to 120 days for the shell to breakdown sufficiently for the germination to occur – but germination is quite fast if you choose to carefully crack the outter shell and remove the seed without rupturing it.
